Stoneham High School has an immediate opening for a part time 10 hours per week Long Term Substitute English Language Teacher.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Maintains a valid Massachusetts DESE certification as an ESL teacherProven ability to relate to a variety of constituencies including but not limited to: administrators parents teachers students other school staff and visitors.Possess good communication skills both verbal and written.Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.A sense of humor and a proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with all staff members students and with the larger educational community.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the school department may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO:Building PrincipalDUTIESDuties include but are not limited to:Plan organize and provide instruction in English that meet state and federal standardsProvide instruction that is consistent and coordinated with the districts/schools instructional program so as to ensure that students meet and exceed learning targetsDevelop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategiesAddress all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each students ability to read write speak and listen in the appropriate content areaAdminister academic and language assessments (ACCESS WIDA screeners) for the purpose of evaluating student progress for meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisitionMaintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progressProvide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategiesAdapt curriculum to provide individual small group and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of studentsEstablish and maintain standards of student behavior required to run an orderly and productive classroom environmentEmploy a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of studentsManage allotted learning time to maximize student achievementAssignment includes ELL support classes as well as Co-Taught content based courses.In addition to meeting the state licensure requirements ESL teacher candidates must ensure they meet the following additional qualifications:Outstanding personal and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent organizational skillsThe ability to keep concise recordsA sensitivity to the development stages and well-being of ELLsThe ability to incorporate current technology into the classroom environmentThe ability to facilitate group discussion analyze situations and draw conclusionsThe ability to work with a diversity of individuals and groupsExcellent problem solving skills to analyze issues and create action plansThe ability to adapt to changing work priorities and maintain flexible working hoursThe ability to establish and maintain constructive relationships Key Skills Experience Working With Students,Classroom Management,Algebra,Behavior Management,Classroom Experience,Lesson Planning,Math,Special Education,Calculus,Teaching,Geometry,Cordova Employment Type : Part-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
