Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSalary: $50,000-$60,000 annuallyThe Montessori Academy of Colorado is a metropolitan school that engages each child through innovative academics, exploration of character, and a fearless, forward mindset.Job Title: Lower Elementary Lead TeacherDepartment: Upper SchoolReports To: Upper School Director Employee Classification: Full-Time, ExemptSalary Range: $50,000-$60,000 per yearJob SummaryThe Lower Elementary Lead Teacher is a warm, enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative educator passionate about supporting young learners in a joyful and nurturing classroom community. This is a full-time lead teacher position responsible for overseeing the Lower Elementary classroom and reports directly to the Upper School Director. This position begins for the 2025-26 school year on August 10th, 2025.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesCurriculum and Instruction:Lead and guide the daily work cycle and gives lessons aligned with the Montessori philosophySupport students in developing independence, focus, and a love of learningProvide individualized and small-group lessons tailored to student needsDesign and maintain a curriculum that fosters partnerships that enrich learningObserve and record each students academic, social, and emotional growthMeet with parents for conferences four times a year, aligns with Montessori philosophy and Common Core State Standards, using supplemental curriculum as neededPrepare and maintain Montessori materials and hands-on learning experiencesOrganize field trips and community outings throughout the yearPlan and lead trips and learning experiences that connect with the classroom curriculumCreate and facilitate parent education events and programsCollaborate with the broader Upper School team to support a cohesive programOrganize and attend an overnight end-of-year class tripCommunication:Create a peaceful, respectful classroom by modeling conflict resolution and Grace and Courtesy lessonsBuild strong, supportive relationships with students and familiesCommunicate regularly with families about student progress and classroom lifeWork with other faculty to plan Family Nights, performances, and special eventsMaintain professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues, following MACs Characteristics of ExcellenceProfessional Responsibilities:Actively participate in professional development, parent workshops, committees, and staff meetingsMaintain a clean, organized, and inspiring prepared environment in alignment with Montessori pedagogySupport admissions efforts by meeting with prospective families as requested by the Head of SchoolComplete other duties as assignedQualificationsAMI or AMS Elementary Montessori Certification (Lower Elementary preferred)Bachelors degree in Education, preferredMinimum of 3-5 years teaching experience in a Montessori environmentFamiliarity with the Science of Reading and Orton-Gillingham methodsStrong relationship-building skills with students, parents, and colleaguesExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenMAC is committed to caring for and investing in our employees by offering a generous benefits package, including the potential for paid Montessori training, 24 paid holidays annually, paid summer break, 8 Paid Time Off days, 3 Paid Professional Development days, health, dental, and vision insurance with an HSA option, a 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, employer-paid life insurance, and additional voluntary plans for life insurance, critical illness, and short- and long-term disability plans.
