Serving as a Lower School Substitute Teacher is a wonderful opportunity to experience Hammond's professional culture firsthand and explore all that our school offers to those considering or aspiring to work in an educational setting.Hammond Lower School seeks dynamic, trustworthy, and reliable individuals committed to maintaining productive and positive classroom learning during times when regular classroom teachers are unable to report to work. We welcome candidates who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in elementary education, working directly with young children, or exploring a pathway into teaching. Ideally, candidates will have knowledge of effective teaching practices that ensure learning is a comfortable and meaningful experience. Our ideal candidates have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and experience working with children ages 4–10.This position is on an as-needed basis. The full duty day is 7:45 a.m.–3:15 p.m., and substitutes are often requested to work partial or half days, as well as up to several full days at a time.
