JOB DESCRIPTION

LSA PT Spirit Store Manager

Position Location: Lutheran South Academy

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Scott Browning (Campus Head of School) and Julie Korte (LEAH)

Position Purpose: To operate and grow the LSA Spirit Store as a profitable community-centered retail program.

Position Specifics: Position will begin in the Summer or Fall of 2026. This is a hourly position with the rate based on experience. The position will be approximately 19 hours per week and does not generally work during long school breaks. This position does not qualify for benefits or tuition discounts.

Job Requirements:

  • Oversee inventory, merchandising, sales (in-store and online), marketing, and community engagement while ensuring the store meets the needs of students, families, and staff.
  • Will set regular store hours and make sure the store opens at least two or three times a week
  • Handle daily tasks like opening and closing store, managing financial transactions, and helping customers
  • Oversee the recruiting and training of volunteers to assist in the operation of the store
  • Will conduct an inventory review to eliminate excess or underperforming stock and maintain a focused product selection
  • Will use a barcode system to track items and make sure stock levels stay accurate both in-store and online
  • Create and maintain an online store that connects with the in-store inventory system
  • Manage online product listings, orders, and tools (like scanners and payment systems) to keep everything running smoothly
  • Curate merchandise that aligns with school branding while reflecting customer preferences and current trends
  • Establish strategic pricing, evaluate product quality, and introduce new offerings to support sustained profitability
  • Will promote the store on social media and create posts to attract customers
  • Will attend school meetings/events and encourage people to get involved with the store
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and engaging work environment
  • Greet faculty, parents, and students with salutations and smiles
  • Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical, Christ-like way
  • Work as a team player exhibiting professional behavior and a positive attitude with leadership, staff, the church, volunteers, children, and families that reflect positively on the school and is consistent with school policies, practices, and code of ethics
  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward students, staff, and families
  • Willingly fulfill other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience in a retail or small business environment preferred
  • Experience with payment systems like Square
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
  • Display strong communication and community engagement skills
  • Able to define problems and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Must maintain a high standard of ethics and honesty
  • Maintain accurate, competent, and efficient performance
  • Guard the confidentiality of personnel and student information
  • Must be able to work with all levels of management, faculty, and staff, along with outside services
  • Encourage a sense of teamwork and enthusiasm for the Christ-centered ministry of the school
  • Able to meet deadlines and give attention to details and accuracy when needed
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
  • Exhibits the ability to communicate both in spoken and written English
  • Is punctual and reliable in attendance
  • Positive performance reviews are expected for continued employment

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Regularly sit, stand, bend, lift, talk, and hear
  • Regularly uses close and distance vision
  • Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office/school environment
  • Able to work around young children without frequent illness
