Machine Operator- 2nd Shift

Location: Elkhart, Indiana
Pay Rate: $19.40
Shifts Available: Monday through Friday, 2PM-10PM
Employment Type: Full-Time Try-Before-Hire

Position Summary

Reputable plastics company has a need to add to the team! The BargerGard Technician is responsible for preparing, setting up, starting, and operating BargerGard manufacturing equipment under the guidance of the Production Shift Leader. This role ensures that parts are produced to quality specifications while meeting manufacturing standards and safety requirements. The BargerGard Technician supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, productivity, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities Machine Operation
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment to produce BargerGard parts to specification.

  • Maximize setup efficiency by optimizing setup time, material usage, production rate, and material consumption.

  • Inspect machinery, equipment, and tooling prior to setup to ensure machine readiness.

  • Identify issues impacting product quality or production requirements and communicate with appropriate personnel for resolution.

  • Perform routine maintenance and equipment cleaning.

  • Identify nonconforming materials or products and work with the Production Shift Leader to resolve issues.

Quality
  • Ensure produced parts meet established quality standards and specifications.

  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

  • Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized work area.

Communication
  • Accurately complete all shift documentation and required paperwork.

  • Conduct effective shift hand-offs by communicating job status, production issues, and updates to incoming shifts.

Safety
  • Participate in company safety programs and initiatives.

  • Follow all established safety policies and procedures.

  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of six (6) months of manufacturing or related experience
  • Great mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English to meet training, safety, and quality requirements

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating manufacturing equipment

  • Strong organization and time management skills

  • Basic computer and software proficiency

  • Knowledge of quality control principles and Statistical Process Control (SPC)

  • Manufacturing equipment

  • Computers and machine controls

  • Measurement equipment

  • Pallet jacks

  • Hand tools

Physical Requirements
  • Light Work (up to 10 lbs): Continuous - product and hand tools

  • Medium Work (11-30 lbs): Regular - product and hand tools

  • Heavy Work (31-50 lbs): Occasional (1-2 times per shift) - machine tools and molds

  • Ability to stand for extended periods

  • Frequent bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, twisting

Mental Requirements
  • Reading, writing, and basic calculation skills

  • Interpersonal skills

  • Reasoning and analysis

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
