Machine Operator (Honing)

We are seeking an entry-level Machine Operator (Honing) responsible for honing metal cages to specific tolerances. The role involves working from Monday to Friday, 4 pm to 12:30 am, with opportunities for overtime. The ideal candidate will ensure precision by reading honing specifications from drawings or blueprints and utilizing an air gauge.

Responsibilities

• Operate honing machine to meet industry standards.
• Adhere to best practices in the honing process.
• Interpret honing specifications from drawings or blueprints.
• Hone basic parts and valves with a focus on either oil or coolant.
• Read and maintain control tolerances in targeted areas.

Essential Skills

• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Basic math skills including calculator and computer use.
• Capability to perform quality checks.
• Proficiency in operating simple machines and hand tools such as air machines, wrenches, and expander guns.
• Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in blueprint reading and part inspection.
• Familiarity with using micrometers and gauges.
• Documenting manufacturing requirements and conducting quality checks.

Work Environment

The role is primarily based in a manufacturing environment where temperatures may vary with the seasons, and noise levels can range from moderate to high. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, and safety shoes are required in accordance with company safety standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon Hills, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
