Machinist

Shift: 1 Opening 3rd shift: 8pm-6am Sunday-Wednesday

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to set up and operate CNC machines and other equipment within an assigned cell. The role involves transferring commands from servers to CNC modules and ensuring the proper installation, alignment, and securing of tools and workpieces. Your expertise will ensure the production of high-quality workpieces that meet precise specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines and equipment in the assigned cell.
  • Transfer commands from servers to CNC modules using computer network links.
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Stop machines to remove finished workpieces or change tooling, setup, or workpiece placement as required.
  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Listen to machines during operation to detect issues and adjust machines as necessary.
  • Monitor control panel displays to detect malfunctions and compare readings to specifications.
  • Be responsible for preventive maintenance and proper usage of machinery, tools, and component parts.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency as a CNC Operator with experience in lathe, mill, inspection gauges, and manual machines.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic skills in measuring, math, reading, and writing.
  • Understanding of design techniques and principles in the production of precision technical plans.
  • Knowledge of SPC, mechanical aptitude, and computer literacy.
  • Ability to conduct tests and inspections to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and evaluate complex issues and implement solutions.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6 to 9 months of on-the-job training or related vocational training program.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong command of the English language, including grammar and composition.
  • Experience in manufacturing and machine operation.

Work Environment

The work environment includes regular exposure to noise levels at or above 85 decibels, requiring hearing protection. There is also exposure to dust particles, necessitating the use of a fresh-air helmet with medical clearance required. The role may involve working in a booth surrounded by three walls, with exposure to weather elements primarily in the form of temperature changes. The position requires working the 3rd shift from 8pm-6am, Sunday to Wednesday night.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CHAMBERSBURG, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.66 - $26.41/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
