With a strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction, we are looking to expand our team with a Maintenance Assistant.
The Maintenance Assistant will support the Maintenance Manager and technicians with day-to-day operational tasks. This role ensures the workspace, tools, and equipment are clean, organized and functioning properly enabling mechanics to perform repairs efficiently and safely.
Job Specific Training:
- Clean, lubricate, and perform basic preventive maintenance on shop tools and machinery.
- Inspect equipment (e.g., lifts, compressors, diagnostic tools) for wear, leaks, or malfunction.
- Replace worn components such as belts, filters, hoses, and fittings under supervision.
- Assist with general building maintenance: lighting, minor plumbing, and cleaning.
- Maintain orderly work areas, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
- Empty waste oil containers, recycling bins, and shop trash according to safety rules
- Maintain cleanliness of the shop floor, workstations, storage areas, and repair bays.
- Follow all lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and crane/rigging procedures.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hoists, and cranes to move motors safely
- Oversee maintenance and repair of workshop equipment (lifts, compressors, diagnostic tools, hoists, welders, etc.).
- Assist and follow the preventative maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate external vendors for specialized equipment repairs.
- Ensure all equipment is available and functioning to avoid downtime.
- Minimize interruptions by proactively addressing equipment issues.
- Support technicians with technical information related to equipment use or maintenance.
Training and Knowledge:
- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Ability to lift moderate weights and perform physical tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Education and Experience:
- Prior experience in a repair shop or industrial maintenance setting.
- Familiarity with hand tools and shop equipment.
- Knowledge of shop safety procedures (PPE, hazardous materials, equipment handling).
