TITLE: MAINTENANCE WORKER (Looking for Plumbing Experience)

REPORTS TO: Facilities Superintendent

EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT:Non-Exempt

SUPERVISES EMPLOYEES: NO

NUMBER SUPERVISED: 0

FUNCTION: Perform all general maintenance work for all SCVCAI facilities under the direction of Facilities Director.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Performed at least 80% of the time. Employee is required to follow any other instructions and perform any other duties as requested by supervisor):

1. Perform all general maintenance - routine carpentry jobs, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and painting, and routine maintenance of all SCVCAI facilities.

2. Assists in maintaining chemicals and filtration system for swimming pool and therapy spa, takes chemical readings of water at least once daily and records same.

3. Assist Maintenance Supervisor in the repair and maintenance of all heating, refrigeration, ventilation, air-conditioning, and structural elements of the Recreation Center facilities on a daily basis.

4. Regularly changes light bulbs throughout the facilities.

5. Provide material lists for existing and upcoming projects as they develop.

6. Provide assistance with deliveries and set-ups as requested.

7. Assists in landscaping as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

1. Reasonably proficient (with minimal to no supervision) in maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air-conditioning, electrical, plumbing, structural systems and facilities.

2. Minimum 2 years experience with various trade and maintenance elements outlined herein.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to drive a car and possess a valid driver's license.

2. Position involves stooping, bending, lifting, grasping, climbing, pushing, pulling, or otherwise move objects weighing as much as 80 lbs.

This type of activity may occur several times throughout the day.

3. Ability to exchange and receive information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound. Must be able to speak in a

clear and understandable voice so that communication may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities.

4. Must be able to read well enough to see obscure or faint printing with or without corrective lenses.

5. This position will be performed both indoors and outside. When indoors the temperature will be fluorescent lighting. Outside the employee

may be subject to the elements of wind, rain, cold, wet and extreme heat.

6. Must be able to work in small and confined spaces for extended periods of time.

7. Must be able to operate a vehicle in conditions which sometimes can be hazardous in a safe manner without injury to oneself or others.

8. Physical ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks related to the position.

10. Must be able to work extended hours, weekends and holidays when requested.

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be able to work constructively and cheerfully in an environment that my be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the

proper performance of the departments mission.

2. Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays and still remain focused.

3. Employee must remain alert and aware, for safety reasons, to the function being performed at the construction site work place.

4. Must have competent organizational skills and must be able to work effectively and cheerfully under stressful circumstances.
