Position Summary
WMC's Maintenance Technicians are key members of our operations team, working collaboratively with fellow technicians and production staff to ensure optimal performance and reliability of all production equipment, fabrication systems, and facility infrastructure. They are responsible for performing routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs across a wide range of systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic components. In addition to maintaining existing equipment, our technicians contribute to the design and fabrication of new systems and implement continuous improvements to enhance efficiency and safety.
Essential Functions
- Perform routine preventative maintenance procedures on various production equipment to maintain the machinery in peak operational performance.
- Respond quickly to a malfunction inhibiting production and perform troubleshooting and repair work as necessary to restore the equipment to operation.
- Use technical documentation to quick diagnose system malfunctions and affect repairs.
- Escalate issues and problems quickly to the Maintenance Team Lead and the Maintenance Manager.
- Coordinate with the Production Shift Supervisor to ensure all machinery is operating and all maintenance issues are known.
- Assist and maintain an inventory record of parts and supplies.
- Assist in creating, Implementing, and modification of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Maintenance Department.
- Communicate well with Extrusion Operators to understand problems with equipment and help resolve current and any preventive issues.
- Travel from production facility to local warehouse facility to perform repairs and corrective maintenance as necessary.
- Safety Requirements: Understand and follow all WMC Health & Safety Practices. Report all injuries and unsafe work conditions. Attend mandatory safety training and requests for additional training as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
- Basic understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, mechanical, electrical circuits, pump theory, heat transfer, and fluid flow.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings to aid in troubleshooting and diagnosing probable faults.
- Able to follow troubleshooting guides in technical manuals and other technical documentation.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Working knowledge of tools and test devices.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds.
- Ability to maintain a driver's license
- Basic knowledge of rigging.
Technical Proficiencies Required
- Basic mechanical skills. Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a maintenance technician or equivalent required, 3 years preferred.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and CMMS software is preferred.
Schedule
- First shift
- Monday through Friday
- 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
- Overtime hours may be required as needed
