Primary Location:2550 Bending Branch Way, Allen, Texas, 75013We are searching for candidates that meet the required qualifications and experience and are able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities.Job Summary:The manager of academic assistance is a key campus-based support service leader who administers the daily operations and provides leadership and managerial oversight for the Anthony Peterson Center for Academic Assistance (APCAA) and assigned departments. As the center serves a crucial role in facilitating student success, the manager supports students, faculty, and the administration by managing and overseeing personnel and assuring adequate staffing and center schedules.Required Qualifications:Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage daily operations of the Center for Academic Assistance and assigned departments, creating a positive learning environment. Manage and develop center services to support student learning and success. Ensure availability of tutoring and other resources for appropriate student population, including on line as needed. Determine and implement policies and procedures of operations of the Center for Academic Assistance and assigned departments. Communicate and collaborate with the appropriate academic deans for the efficient functioning of the center.Recruit, interview, orient, supervise, and evaluate staff, including student assistants. Provide training for tutors in policies and procedures, tutoring techniques, subject-area concepts, and application of technology. Provide opportunities for professional development of tutors. Evaluate and manage performance of full-time employees if applicable.Develop, maintain, and manage all assigned full-time and part-time staff schedules. Coordinate any faculty tutoring service hours in the center. Ensure staff and schedules of assigned areas are sufficient to complete appointed projects and objectives. Evaluate schedules on an ongoing basis to ensure they meet student need, based on data. Submit recommended schedules to division offices.Elicit regular input from faculty about new methods of instruction, topics, or curriculum used in classes.Collaborate with faculty, tutors, and other campus divisions and groups to develop, produce, and schedule academic seminars each term.Remain up to date with learning center scholarship and pedagogy, as well as research operations at other centers in order to implement and maintain best practices.Assist the dean to develop and manage the budget for the center and assigned departments. Monitor and operate within the assigned budget.Oversee purchases and inventory of supplies and equipment. Schedule and ensure regular service and repair of all assigned equipment. Complete purchase order requisitions.Ensure hardware and software support is provided to the Center for Academic Assistance and assigned departments.Maintain a clean, safe, and organized area. Cooperate and communicate with the Technology Services Department to maintain computer equipment and software.Provide information to students, instructors, administrators, and members of the community about the Center for Academic Assistance and support services via marketing. Promote use of the.-center in all disciplines and areas of the college via various modes.Collaborate with leadership to support ongoing assessment of APCAA effectiveness by assisting with data collection and analysis, at least on a monthly basis, including center use and student outcomes.Collaborate with other APCAA managers to coordinate the policies and services provided by each center.Participate in ongoing strategic planning with administration and other center managers to pursue continuous improvement of APCAA operations, including the program review and continuous improvement planning process.
