You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

You are a highly driven and detail-oriented professional leader ready to manage the Risk, Compliance and Safety programs for the Risk & Security Management (RSM) Department within the Business Operations Division. You are a proactive problem solver with exceptional organizational and communication skills, thriving in a fast-paced environment. You also possess experience guiding and mentoring front-line staff to optimize performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

The Manager III performs complex (journey-level) managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of a business function, division, or department. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

You will be trusted to:

  • Oversee subject matter experts in the Risk, Compliance and Safety programs.
  • Plan the development and implementation of department initiatives and goals.
  • Oversee the development of comprehensive reports, policies, plans, and procedures.
  • Oversee the work of departmental staff to ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Motivate and develop staff, prepare and evaluate budget requests, and monitor expenditures.
  • Perform HR functions, such as time and leave and performance evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You qualify with:

  • Four years of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures in a public or private agency, one year of which must have been in an administrative management or supervisory capacity.
  • Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications for this position.

You are a great fit with:

  • Working knowledge of statutes, rules/regulations, standards, guidelines, and best practices involving the department programs in risk management, compliance and safety.
  • Coaching, mentoring, training, monitoring, and quality improvement experience.
  • Establishing priorities, standards, and measurement tools to monitor functions and ensure department goals and priorities are continually met on time.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • State agency experience.
  • Certified Texas Contract Manager or Project Management Certification
