Job DetailsJob Location Wilmington, NC  Description Manager, CargoAs the successful candidate, you will -Oversee the cargo team comprised of Cargo Handlers and supervisors, leading by example to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction. Coordinate scheduled activities, delegate responsibilities, manage multiple priorities, and proactively resolve issues as they arise. Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure timely responses to customer inquiries and service requests, while promptly escalating concerns when necessary. You are excited about this opportunity because you will -Directly manage the cargo team comprised of Cargo Handlers and Supervisor, Cargo Recruit, interview, and oversee the hiring all cargo team membersManage Cargo Handlers work schedules and recommend appropriate staffing levels to the General ManagerConduct regularly performance reviews of direct reports, while providing ongoing coaching, motivation, and corrective actions Lead and conduct shift briefings with the cargo teamMeet, greet, and welcome passengers, and flight crews, of customer aircraft that arrive on the aircraft parking rampOperate heavy equipment such as belt loaders, k-loaders, deice trucks, etc. Build, load, and secure LD7 (and other ULD, Unit Load Device) containers in accordance with airline or customer load plansStage, sort, and label cargo for build-up or break-down activitiesEnsure cargo security and conduct dangerous goods and hazardous material checks (Class 6 & 10)Verify airway bills, manifests, and cargo documentation for accuracyMarshal aircraft in and out of positionFollow TSA, FAA, IS-BAH, DOT and OSHA regulation and safety protocols Escort customer vehicles on and off the airfield when necessarySupport flight crews with any service needs they may require including baggage and transportation assistance, once passengers are taken care ofDirect the flight crews to the terminal for placing any fuel or service ordersHelp the flight crews with all of their operational needs during departure preparation Follow up to ensure all fuel and service orders for departures have been completed so the aircraft can depart on timeLoad and offload luggage from the baggage carts, transportation vehicles, and aircraftPartner with fellow teammates where applicable when not servicing the customerThank the customers for their business and visit, welcome them back to visit againChampion improving best practices to provide excellent customer serviceAssume additional responsibilities, to support Modern Aviation's evolving business objectivesQualifications We are excited about you because you must -Be well organized, ensuring smooth and efficient operations throughout your shiftBe able to multi-task effectively, handling various responsibilities with confidencePossess strong communication skills-written, verbal, and radio-to keep everyone informed and coordinatedUnderstand the phonetic alphabet and aviation acronyms, enabling clear and accurate communication in a fast-paced environmentMaintain positive working relationships with teammates, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team cultureBring customer service and/or line service experience that enhances the client experience and operational excellenceBe ready to learn and apply safety procedures, recognizing and responding to potential hazards on the airfieldWe are excited about you because you must (continued) -Be comfortable learning and using various computer software and Point of Sale systems to support daily operationsThrive under pressure, staying calm and focused in dynamic situationsBe capable of making sound operational decisions when necessary, ensuring safety and efficiencyYou will bring with you - Previous supervisory and leadership experienceA high school diploma or GED | An associate degree in aviation/business related field is preferred.Prior aviation, warehouse, cargo, and/or ramp experience is preferredFamiliarity with Unit Load Devices (ULDs) a plusKnowledge of IATA and ICAO regulations preferredMust possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass an airport security background checkAbility to read, write, and understand the English languageCapability to pass a background check and drug screenFlexible availability - may include nights, weekends, and holidays based on flight schedulesWhat can you expect the working conditions and physical demands for this role - Repeatedly work in areas where the noise level is loudRegularly work in high, precarious placesCommonly around regular vibration and chemicals including aviation fuels, oils, and lavatory fluidFrequently stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching, grasping, stretching, walking, sitting, and crawling actionsBeing observant of moving mechanical partsRegularly lift 50 pounds Working in outdoor weather conditions including wet and/or humid conditions including extreme hot and cold weatherPlease click on the link below to complete the predictive index assessment:https://assessment.predictiveindex.com/bo/804D/CargoManager_Oct2025_131926Note: The statements above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to the job.
