As Manager, Indirect Tax, you’ll lead Figma’s indirect tax compliance and strategy across U.S. sales and use tax and global VAT/GST obligations. This role will take ownership of our indirect tax function, partner closely with Accounting, Revenue, Legal, and Billing Engineering, and help build scalable processes that support a fast-growing public company.This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.What you’ll do at Figma:Own and manage Figma’s indirect tax compliance, including U.S. sales and use tax filings, foreign VAT/GST obligations, and coordination with external advisorsMonitor and assess nexus exposure, taxability rules, and regulatory developments across jurisdictions to ensure ongoing compliance and risk mitigationPartner cross-functionally with Accounting, Revenue, Legal, and Billing Engineering to ensure tax requirements are accurately reflected in billing systems, product offerings, and operational processesManage indirect tax audits, notices, and inquiries, coordinating documentation and responses with internal teams and external advisorsLead process improvements and implement scalable solutions (including tax engines and automation tools) to improve efficiency and accuracy in tax reportingOversee and develop a Senior Tax Analyst while ensuring high standards of execution across compliance and operational activitiesStrengthen internal controls and support SOX compliance related to indirect tax processes and reportingWe’d love to hear from you if you have:7+ years in indirect tax across public accounting and/or industry environmentsDeep knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax, including multi-state compliance, nexus analysis, audits, and exemption managementWorking knowledge of global indirect tax regimes (VAT/GST) and coordinating compliance across multiple jurisdictionsStrong understanding of SOX controls and operating within a public company (or similarly complex) environmentDemonstrated ability to manage or mentor others and collaborate effectively with external advisorsWhile it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:Background in SaaS, technology, or other high-growth environmentsCPA certification or a Master’s degree in Taxation or AccountingFamiliarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and tax engines such as Avalara or VertexExposure to M&A transactions, including due diligence and integration from an indirect tax perspectiveInterest in or experience improving tax processes through automation, analytics, or AI-driven toolsAt Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, the pay range is localized according to employee work location by a factor of between 80% and 100% of range. Please discuss your specific work location with your recruiter for more information.
