Manager, Software DevelopmentLocation: Exton, PA – Hybrid or In-officePosition SummaryWe are seeking a Manager, Software Development, to lead the evolution of Bentley’s Civil Engineering software portfolio. In this role, you will manage a globally distributed team of developers and oversee day‑to‑day operations, driving technical excellence, organizational transformation, and strategic impact. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to implement processes, guide engineering investment decisions, and deliver high‑quality, reliable solutions.ResponsibilitiesLead and InspireManage, mentor, and develop a global software engineering team.Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.Drive delivery of highly available, scalable, and performant cloud services.Drive TransformationChampion the transition to an Empowered Teams organizational model.Promote modern engineering practices, tools, and workflows to improve productivity and quality.Own Delivery ExcellenceEnsure high standards for code quality, maintainability, testing, and overall product stability.Oversee release readiness, defect management, and continuous improvement of engineering processes.Strategic Decision‑MakingUse data, telemetry, customer feedback, and engineering insight to:Guide product strategiesPrioritize engineering investmentsOptimize development efficiency and team focusCollaborate Across FunctionsPartner with Product Management, UX, Quality Engineering, and leadership to align on product strategy and delivery goals.Support cross‑functional coordination to ensure the success of major initiatives.Build TalentRecruit, coach, and develop high‑performing engineering talent.Encourage continuous learning, skill development, and technical growth within the team.QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience with 3+ years of technical experience.Proven leadership experience managing globally distributed software teams with 2+ years of experience.Strong communication, strategic thinking, and collaborative leadership skills.High intellectual curiosity and adaptability to evolving tools, technologies, and industry trends.A coaching‑oriented mindset with a passion for team and individual development.This role requires minimal travel.Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).What We Offer:A great Team and culture – please see our colleague video.
