Estimated 1-5 hours per week scheduled around rehearsals and concerts.Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):To provide year-round logisticalsupport to the ensemble conductor and the Music Organizations office in the areas of rehearsal and concert management. The person in this position will also be given priority for additional educational opportunities to occasionally lead and support the ensemble musically.Transferable Skills:LeadershipCommunicationAttention to DetailOrganizationResponsibilityMaturityProblem solving and anticipationTroubleshootingCollaborationMotivationInitiativeDuties and Responsibilities:Duties may include but are not limited to:Set up as needed for daily rehearsals and performancesReserve rooms as needed for sectionalsAssist with audition process and preparations as requestedAssist with beginning of year robe fittingsAssist with attendance and maintaining ensemble rosterAssist with ensemble communication on behalf of conductorMeet with conductor and/or Music Orgs staff for work direction and planning as neededEnsure all choir equipment is properly stored returned and tracked between concertsSet and maintain a positive tone and spirit towards all work of the choir; serve as a role model for the choir membersAssist with student leadership of ensemble as needed/directed by conductorMaintain discretion and integrity when dealing with sensitive or confidential materialQualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)Must be a current member of a St. Olaf choral ensemble with at least two years of ensemble experiencePreference given to students who have completed several music coursesStrong leadership skills demonstrated at all times including positivity flexibility and problem solving respect for singers faculty and staffKnowledge of choral repertoire and ensemble practices for the Manitou SingersKnowledge of choral stage configurationsKnowledge of choral equipment and instrumentsKnowledge of scheduling practices for Manitou SingersThis job description is for general information purposes.
