Essex Engineering is a high-precision prototype shop serving the aircraft engine industry. We are looking for skilled Manual Machinists to join our team. We offer a flexible work environment and warmly welcome full-time, part-time, and retired machinists looking to apply their expertise to complex, low-volume projects.

The Role

You will operate manual machines and various machine tools to produce high-precision metal parts. This is a "job shop" environment where variety and technical skill take precedence over repetitive production runs.

  • Flexible Opportunity: We are currently offering this position as either Full-Time or Part-Time to fit your schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Machining: Operate manual lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders.
  • Interpretation: Read and work directly from blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings.
  • Setup: Calibrate tools and set up machines to ensure maximum accuracy.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measurement tools.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine troubleshooting and upkeep of shop machinery.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of manual machining experience (Vocational training is a plus).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in manual machining operations and precision calibration.
  • Math Skills: Strong technical calculation and mathematical abilities.
  • Precision: Excellent hand-eye coordination and a sharp attention to detail.
  • Reliability: A commitment to safety protocols and quality specifications.
