Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDo you have advanced mechanical and troubleshooting skills? We are seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Technician to join our John C. Nordt team in Roanoke.This is a hands-on role; you will not have to sit behind a desk! You will be responsible for evaluating existing and new manufacturing process equipment and systems; developing designs and making recommendations for improvements and enhancements; and leading projects involving production machinery, tooling, control systems and support apparatus, associated with the production of extruded/drawn mill products.Day shift Monday - FridayResponsibilities Include:Specialize in overall machine or system troubleshootingMaintain models and drawings for production equipmentSpecify, design, quote and/or provide cost estimate breakdowns for new or modified fixtures/production equipmentInstall and commission new/modified production equipmentPerform or oversee electrical and mechanical upgrades and repairs on machineryCreate and maintain equipment operating manuals/work instructions, schematics and associated documentationCommunicate with vendors, equipment manufacturers, reps, and other industry experts on equipment implementation and installationTrain employees on equipment operationsRecommend spare parts inventories associated with production equipmentSupport safety programs and keep workplace clean and safePrioritize work demands and manage time and workload effectivelyWork collaboratively with others throughout the organization to achieve resultsRequired Skills and Experience:5+ years relevant manufacturing experience4+ years industrial equipment maintenance experienceAdvanced mechanical skills and ability with hand toolsAble to understand technical drawings and schematicsSolidWorksG CodeAbility to schedule and manage projectsAble to design simple to complex machine componentsSkilled in maintaining equipment and conducting root cause analysisTrack record of producing work that is highly accurate and demonstrates attention to detailAbility to build and maintain relationships and work effectively with vendors and employees of all levelsTechnical Degree preferredPhysical and work condition demands of the position:Frequent lifting of 25 to 50 poundsAbility to climb ladders and stairsFrequent turning, twisting, stooping, bending, and reachingWhat we offer:80 hours of paid holiday time per year80 hours paid vacation to startPaid personal daysPaid Parental Leave40 hours paid sick leave per year401(k) Plan with a company matchMedical and dental insuranceVision Plan and prescription drug coverageFlexible Spending AccountCompany paid life insurance Short-term and long-term disability plansCorporate discount programAnnual Incentive Bonus ProgramWe have been in business for over 150 years!John C.
