Job Summary The role of the AM Lead Technician is to work in conjunction with the SLS and SLA Supervisors to manage workloads and priorities of the SLA and SLS departments. This position will provide day-to-day leadership of personnel and problem-solving techniques to ensure project timelines and department goals are satisfied. This position will also be a contributing member of the department using proficient 3D printing techniques and processes to produce high precision parts. Being a clear communicator and having a positive influence on your team is crucial for success.Essential Functions Read and interpret prints specification sheets and/or 3D files to determine machine setup Perform intermediate to advanced AM programmingPerform intermediate operations of 3D printers for multiple technologies including:SLA/DLP Perform build startups and vat swapsSLS/MJF Perform build startups frame changes and powder refillsFDM Perform build startups machine calibrations and tip changes Ability to troubleshoot issues with machines or part quality Perform intermediate post processing and finishing techniques of completed partsTrack production progress using ERP system Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts per specifications using basic measuring equipment Coordinate daily production needs with supervisor and assist in establishing production prioritiesIdentify and communicate production challenges or successes and workload statusUse good judgement to make sound and reasonable decisions related to production quality and cost controlTrain and mentor new and current employees on department operations and procedures; ensure proper and complete knowledge of trainingCollaborate with Project Managers to calculate time and material costs for quoting purposesMonitor department inventory levelsResearch and recommend purchase of tools equipment and supplies as requiredAssist with cleaning and preventative maintenance of machines tools and work stationsAssist with coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance with internal and external maintenance teamsServe as backup to department supervisor as necessaryAssist in the development of department SOPs and best practicesMaintain a safe clean and organized work environmentOther duties as assigned Technical CompetenciesProficient knowledge of SLA SLS MJF FDM and DLP machinesProficient knowledge of material propertiesProficient knowledge of Materialise MagicsProficient knowledge of machine interfacesBasic knowledge of the ISO 9001 and AS9100 standardsProficient knowledge of print reading Proficient knowledge of commonly used hand and power toolsBasic knowledge of relationship management skills and conflict resolutionBasic knowledge of general business practicesProficient computer literacy including Microsoft OfficeBehavioral CompetenciesDemonstrate leadership by approaching work positively and influencing and guiding colleaguesDemonstrate motivation and accountability to achieve individual and department goals; work effectively under pressure with limited supervisionDemonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills to tactfully collaborate with team membersOrganize prioritize and manage multiple medium to high complexity projects in a cross-functional environmentGrasp intermediate to complex concepts anticipate possible problems and generate solutions with proficient problem-solving skills Exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations when time is criticalAbility to respond and adapt quickly to changing circumstances and department needs Strong attention to detail and commitment to effectively maintain the facility and its equipment Demonstrates teamwork by sharing knowledge and offering assistanceEducation and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent requiredDegree in Model Making Engineering or related field preferred2 years relevant AM Technician experience with MWP preferredPhysical Requirements & Professional Experience:Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers equipment hand/power tools etc. and handle and feel parts of various sizeAbility to bend kneel and crouch occasionally throughout shiftAbility to push pull or lift up to 50 lbs moderately throughout workday occasionally 50 lbs with a team liftAbility to focus vision with or without visual aids for: close vision color vision depth perception and adjusting to sharp focusNoise conditions can be moderate to extreme ear protection required and provided Work environment exposures include fumes or airborne particles (PPE available upon request) and moving mechanical parts and vibration.
