The Group Fitness Manager is responsible for ensuring members have the opportunity to reach their healthy living goals through safe & effective group fitness programming.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Works with supervisor to develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.2. Assists in development and manages implementation of department budget to meet fiscal goals.3. Develops, models and integrates systems and practices that encourage and sustain positive relationships and retention of members/participants.4. Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.5. Asks and answers questions from program participants and members to support them in achieving their goals related to health and well-being.6. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to Group Exercise Instructors members.7. Manages payroll related transactions and monitors for accuracy and completeness.8. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Maintains/keeps current personal certification requirements.9. Communicates and updates program needs to supervisor and branch leadership.10. Keeps accurate program class attendance records and reports trends to supervisor.11. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.12. Actively participates in department, branch and association meetings and trainings.13. Performs other duties as assigned.YMCA COMPETENCIES (Team Leader):InclusionCommunication & InfluenceInnovationDeveloping Self & OthersQUALIFICATIONS:1. Must be at least 18 years of age2. At least 1 year supervisory experience in customer service and/or fitness instruction3. Demonstrated success leading member-focused or equivalent team4. Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours5. Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; program-specific training6. Complete within 30 days of hire: BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)7. Complete within 90 days of hire & maintained consistently: YMCA program-specific certifications and current nationally recognized Group Fitness Certification8. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check9. Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training. 10. Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities. 11. Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift. 12. Screen, train, and enforce abuse prevention policies for staff. 13. Promote a reporting culture, address violations, and maintain confidentiality. 14. Ensure compliance with mandated reporting and communicate zero tolerance to all staff.
