Marketing Specialist - Construction

Under the direction of the Commercial Lines Team Lead or Subject Matter Expert (SME), the Marketing Specialist - Construction is responsible for the effective marketing of construction industry insurance risks, supporting producers and account teams in the placement of new and renewal business for the Construction practice, in accordance with the practices, policies and procedures of the Company.
Market construction lines of commercial insurance, supporting new business acquisition and the retention of renewals for the Construction team. Assist in the analysis of construction line of business and insurance company production trends; make recommendations to correct deficiencies. Act as liaison between Construction producers/account teams and other departments within HUB for the quoting of specialized construction coverage lines. Assist producers with pre-underwriting information gathering, submissions, coverage analysis, RFP's and proposal presentations as needed. Track results from marketing activities and carrier responses for the Construction book in an organized, real-time fashion. Build and maintain relationships with construction-focused insurance company underwriters through professional risk submissions, company visitations, and hard, but fair, negotiations. Maintain working knowledge of construction market underwriting appetite, line of business trends, and insurance company changes. Understand and monitor the volumes and results of relationships with key construction trading partners. Work collaboratively with Account Management, Customer Service, Claims, and Risk Services to bring the full value of HUB to the marketplace and clients. Accurately maintain new business and renewal control logs for the Construction team, assisting in identification of trends. Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
High School Diploma / GED 2-4 years insurance marketing / underwriting experience or equivalent combination of education & experience; construction industry insurance experience preferred Property & Casualty License
Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing with internal and external customers. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and agency management systems. Critical Thinking: ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Confidence and demeanor to effectively interact with all levels within the organization. Work effectively with insurance and service vendors to gain cooperation in meeting clients' needs. Ability to effectively work with a team and coach others in developing their skills and abilities. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and responsibilities in order to complete assignments on time and with optimal accuracy. Ability to efficiently gather pertinent information and facts, analyze and solve problems timely and thoroughly. Desire to learn and grow within the construction insurance space.
This position primarily involves remaining in a stationary position for the majority of the workday. Frequently communicates with colleagues and clients both in person and on the telephone; must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information. Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer. Occasionally needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

The expected salary range for this position is $30-33/hr depending on geographical location and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, experience and working location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope and level.
