Master Electrician at Homasote Company
JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary
The Master Electrician performs all of the functions of an Electrician "A" and will work without supervision. He or she must also possess the skills necessary to complete a job without the assistance of other Maintenance Shop personnel. This position reports directly to the Supervisor of the Electric Shop.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Effectively troubleshoots electrical control circuits
Modifies existing control circuits and designs new circuits as necessary to provide proper machine operation
Disconnects & reconnects piping, coupling installation & alignment, drilling & tapping
Must be familiar with PLC operation and troubleshooting
Analyzes the breakdown for cause, corrective actions and evaluate other possible damage
Specifies required parts and fills out paperwork for ordering or re-ordering
Is subject to 24 hour call.
Performs other duties as directed.
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma
At least 5 years experience in a manufacturing or factory environment
4 Years of apprenticeship; preferred but not required

Must have reliable form of transportation
Must have either a cell phone or home land line
Language Skills
Fluency in English
Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus but not required
Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written form to employees, management, executives, and clients
Reasoning Ability
Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written or oral form
Able to interpret written and oral instructions, and to read, analyze and interpret, operating & maintenance instructions or regulations
Physical Demands

Able to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to manipulate objects, or controls
Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus
May require sitting or standing for extended periods of time

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, but safety equipment is provided.
The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but safety equipment is provided.
Must work in close quarters, from scaffolds and ladders at times.
Exposed to an appreciable amount of unpleasant work conditions; heat, dirt, dust, oil, wetness and other variables.
Exposed to possibility of electrical shock, falls, cuts and abrasion.
