Job Description SummaryJob DescriptionMaterial HandlerWorking at our Dayton site:TDI has been leading design and manufacturer of turbine powered start systems for 40 years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton OH is a part of Unison a GE Aerospace Company. Unison is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry.Role Overview:Provides general material support throughout the siteGeneral housekeeping in area (5S)Prepares domestic dock shipments to include crating boxing labeling and examining for specificationsChecks pack list and verifies accuracyPrepares and set up boxes for shippingBoxes and crates shipments for outside servicesPrepares OV shipmentsConsolidates shippingPull Parts by FIFOShips domestic shipments based on customer requirementsUses Fed-Ex/UPS/DHL process for domestic shipmentsBanding and shrink wrappingPrepares specific customer labelsOperates a fork lift with proper trainingUnloads trucksReceives materials using set process by utilizing proper tracking and moving materials accordinglyRestocks materialsReplenishes point of use materialsUses measuring devices including scalesReview understand and follow work instructions and proceduresEnsures all company paperwork is filled-out accuratelyMeet team goalsCross trainWork with other areas in the shop to support the movement and storage of materialsWork to established Lean Manufacturing guidelinesWork under general direction with minimal coaching in a team environmentWill also perform other duties as assignedTransport material to and from OV suppliers in company vanRequired Qualifications:High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)6 months of related experience and/or trainingForklift certificationValid driver license is required to operate a forklift and company vanPreferred Qualifications:Prior shipping receiving and stores experiencePrior import/export experiencePrior resource planning system experienceStrong attention to detailCompliance with and supports all GE policies and the Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment guideExcellent customer service to co-workers customers and vendorsEmbraces ambiguity and engages others in idea generationWorks collaboratively and respects all othersActively participate and support a team environmentKeeps team informed of work progress timelines and issuesAdditional Information:Wages $20.10 per hour 10% Shift DifferentialWhile performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to stand at least 6 to 8 hours a day.Must be able to work with upper body extremities.Must be able to walk sit or stoop on a regular basis.Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis.Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds on occasion. Items more than 30 pounds will be lifted with assistance.While performing the duties of this job the employee will be exposed to moving high speed machinery and/or mechanical parts.Employee will be required to use approved chemicals and may be exposed to dust fumes or smoke from normal machining operations.
