Material Handler

We are seeking a skilled Material Handler to operate a sit-down forklift, moving materials within the yard and facility. This role involves loading and unloading materials, transporting them to designated areas, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Material Handler will perform routine inspections and maintenance of forklifts and other equipment, follow safety protocols, assist with inventory management, and collaborate with team members for efficient workflow.

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials within the yard and facility.
• Load and unload materials.
• Transport materials to designated areas within the facility.
• Push materials through the facility to support production processes.
• Maintain a clean and organized yard, ensuring materials are stored safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of forklifts and other equipment.
• Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with inventory management and record-keeping as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of experience operating a forklift in a heavy industrial environment.
• Experience in heavy industrial environments such as steel plants, fabrication shops, construction fields, or concrete industries.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a daily basis.
• Skills in general labor, loading, unloading, material handling, inventory management, and shipping.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with sit-down forklift operation.
• Experience with inventory management and record-keeping.

Work Environment

This position is in a heavy industrial steel fabrication environment, which is non-climate controlled and involves working around various welding machines and equipment. Safety is a priority, and adherence to protocols ensures a secure workplace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Goose Creek, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.50 - $29.25/hr.
