Job Description
We are lookingfor aMaterial Handler for ourBaltimore Marylandfacility.In your role as a Material Handler you will:Perform a a variety of tasks as need to support accuracy availability and organization in the storeroom in a safe and dependable manner.The Material Handler should be a detailed person able to work independantly dependable follow directions consciencous have basic computer skills have a teachable spirit abilty to lift up to 50 lbs work in cool and warm envirnments communicate well and interact positively with others.Material Handler tasks will include but not be limited to: Recieving and basic inspection of incoming product Stocking shelves and adding labels Issuing material to internal customers (other departments) Regular cycle counting of items to determine accuracy Data entry and report generating in computer database Shipping out packages and freight as needed. Operate forklifts as needed to move palletized and crated material.Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma/GED18 years of age or olderValid Drivers LicensePreferred Qualifications4 years of diesel material handler experienceBasic CompetenciesVerbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications--both general and technical)Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)Experience reading and interpreting blueprints Need to meet regulatory medical qualifications to qualify for Maintenance Facility Engineer and Maintenance Facility ConductorDriving record needs to be absent any moving convictions for alcohol or substance abuse within the previous 36 monthsMust have basic proficiency with Windows software and Microsoft Office Suite applications (i.e. Outlook)Physical RequirementsHeavy work lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basisStoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on a regular basisPush/pull/grip/carry on a regular basisWalking long distances over uneven terrainDemonstrate auditory and visual acuityExposure to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basisEmployment ConditionsWork safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuriesWear protective equipment such as hard hat hearing protection safety-toe boots and safety glassesWork hours may include a nonstandard workweek overtime and various shift workComplete annual training and pass safety rules examinationSubject to random testing for drugs and/or alcohol per certificationsMust pass all required assessmentsRequired to pass a post-offer medical examination including drug and alcohol testing.This position will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement membership is requiredActive employees must complete one year in current position or craft before applying for positionsEnvironmental ConditionsWork outside in all weather conditions in confined spaces and on occasion at elevated heights.You dont need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us.
