JOB DESCRIPTION

Material Handler

Location: Yakima, WA

Pay: $18 per hour

Shift Requirements: Must be available to work any 12-hour shift!

Job Overview

As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet quality standards, assembling and packaging products as per guidelines, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. You will also assist in training new employees, providing support for maintenance tasks, and identifying areas for process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify product quality by checking for defects such as flaws, discoloration, burn marks, and warping according to the quality plan.
  • Assemble products (e.g., feet, cor-plugs, card holders) in line with the quality plan.
  • Emboss products when needed, ensuring a clear and accurate stamp.
  • Inspect each product to ensure it meets quality specifications.
  • Report any quality concerns to the supervisor.
  • Safely move products to inventory using a forklift.
  • Stack and package products following the quality plan and supervisor's guidance.
  • Provide training and guidance to new or temporary employees as needed.
  • Support routine maintenance tasks, such as mold cleaning and lubrication.
  • Contribute to the cleanup of manufacturing areas.
  • Offer suggestions for process and procedure improvements.
  • Uphold a safe work environment and follow all safety protocols.
  • Report any safety hazards to your supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Relevant work experience may be accepted in place of formal education.
  • 0-3 years of experience in the plastics industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with common practices and procedures in the plastics field.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, seasonal work environment with direct supervision.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.

Skills

  • Knowledge of safety and quality standards.
  • Basic math and mechanical skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Forklift operation skills.

Work Conditions

  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with high noise levels, heat, dust, and exposure to oils and grease.
  • Must adhere to safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds regularly.
