Maintenance Technician - Material Handling EquipmentJob SummaryPerform preventative and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment in an automated warehouse environment. This role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems maintaining conveyor equipment and ensuring safe operations while supporting continuous facility operations through flexible scheduling and comprehensive maintenance documentation.Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment Maintenance & RepairComplete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation and record-keepingTroubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on Material Handling Equipment (MHE) including belts motors photo-eyes and relaysPerform repairs and maintenance on automated conveyor systems and controlsConduct predictive and preventative maintenance procedures to minimize equipment downtimeSafety & Operations SupportPromote safe working environment by following all established safety proceduresMaintain Material Handling Equipment safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelinesTrack and store department inventory for maintenance supplies and replacement partsMaintain positive working relationships across all Operations facility areasTechnical Documentation & SystemsDocument all maintenance activities and equipment status accuratelyUtilize Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for work order trackingRead and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics for troubleshooting and repairsTroubleshoot basic input and output functions on automated systemsPhysical OperationsMove up to 49 pounds and perform physical maintenance tasks as requiredStand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours with or without reasonable accommodationWork in various positions including bending crouching kneeling and reaching for equipment accessRequired QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent1 year experience in PC competency including Microsoft Word Excel and OutlookBasic understanding of electrical and mechanical principlesAvailability & FlexibilityAbility to work flexible schedules shifts and areas including weekends nights and holidaysWillingness to adapt to changing operational needs and emergency maintenance requirementsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift parts and tools weighing on average 20 pounds occasionally up to 49 poundsCapability for repetitive bending crouching kneeling reaching twisting sitting standing and walkingManual dexterity for eye/hand coordination foot pedal operation and precise manual tasksAbility to work in challenging conditions including small spaces varying temperatures noise and vibrationCore CompetenciesStrong attention to detail for maintenance documentationProblem-solving skills for equipment troubleshootingCommunication skills for cross-functional collaborationSafety consciousness and adherence to protocolsPreferred QualificationsEducation & CertificationAssociate degree or higher from vocational school or college with focus in Mechanical or Electrical fieldTechnical certifications in electrical mechanical or automation systemsExperience & Technical Skills2 years experience with automated conveyor systems and controls2 years experience in repair of material handling equipment2 years experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures1 year experience in metal and wood fabrication1 year experience reading blueprints and electrical schematics1 year knowledge of electrical and electronic principlesSpecialized KnowledgeExperience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)Experience with robotic or electromechanical operation and maintenanceKnowledge of AutoStore ASRS (Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems)Project management experience for maintenance initiativesExperience with PLC systems and industrial automationKnowledge of lean maintenance practices and reliability-centered maintenanceWorking ConditionsThis position operates in an automated warehouse environment with exposure to moving machinery electrical systems and varying environmental conditions. Work includes dust fumes/odors hot/cold temperatures inside/outside noise vibration and standing on concrete for extended periods.
