Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDirect Counsel is seeking a Scribe to support exam takers during the February Bar Exam in the Bay Area. This is a unique opportunity for detail-oriented professionals to provide critical assistance in a structured, high-stakes testing environment.Role OverviewScribes will handwrite (in block letters) the dictated responses of the exam taker verbatim during each testing session. This role requires precision, stamina, professionalism, and the ability to maintain accuracy over long periods.Minimum RequirementsGeneral QualificationsHighly dependable, composed, and able to instill confidence in the exam takerPrior experience as a legal secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, or similar role strongly preferredMust not be a law clerk, law student, or licensed attorney in any jurisdictionSpecific SkillsAbility to legibly write verbatim dictation without reference tools (e.g., dictionaries or electronic devices)Must write exclusively in block lettersAbility to read written responses back to the exam taker clearlyPrior scribing experience—especially in timed or extended testing environments—strongly preferredMinimum high school diploma; bachelor’s degree preferredSchedule & Time CommitmentOrientation:February 23 — 1:00 PM to 4:00 PMExam Days:February 24, 26, 28 (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday)7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (or earlier, if completed sooner)Candidates must be available for all days listed, without exception.
