Additionally, DRS Marlo Coil is positioned for significant growth in the Industrial/Commercial markets.For more information on Leonardo DRS, please visitwww.leonardodrs.com, and for more information on our Commercial/Industrial business, please visit:www.marlocoil.com.Job SummaryJoin us as a Mechanical Engineer II, responsible for the development, testing and analysis of a variety of HVAC&R products for both commercial and defense markets including heat exchanger coils, rugged air conditioning systems, refrigeration plants, and air handling systems. This position will be responsible for supporting product development and proposals; heat transfer analysis; sizing and selecting components; creating associated documentation; and supporting product testing, qualification, and production. Analysis support will involve interpretation of test results, basic thermodynamic calculations, and carrying out software simulations to predict performance of a range of equipment.Job ResponsibilitiesPerform heat transfer, thermodynamic, material & energy balance, and fluid system analysisSupport projects and proposals for the development and support of HVAC&R equipment, especially heat exchangers, air conditioning, refrigeration, and air handling systemsSupport system design through flowsheet (P&ID) developmentRefrigeration system analysis and component selectionSupport testing, qualification, documentation and analysis of prototypes, products, systems or subsystemsCreate piping/plumbing layouts for equipment testsReview customer specifications and requirements in support of bids and proposals and development of compliant designsSpecify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems, and servicesSupport rapid prototyping of development projectsCoordinate test schedules with lab, engineering and productionSuggest improvements and support lab system upgradesEducation & Experience RequirementsBachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or related technical fieldComfortable and competent writing and creating technical documentationCompetent using MS Office, especially ExcelExperience designing and analyzing mechanical components, systems and equipment, preferably HVAC&R (air conditioning, air handling, chillers and refrigeration) equipmentExperience designing, selecting components and working with fluid handling systems including pumps, control valves, fittings, and/or other fluid handling systemsExperience using or designing LabView systemsExperience designing defense products, especially for the US NavyU.S. Citizenship required.Taking care of our people is a top priority at Leonardo DRS.
