Mechanical Engineer (HVAC & Plumbing)

Department: Engineering - Mechanical
Location: Tulsa, OK - Hybrid work model available after onboarding (Tulsa-based role)

Position Summary

Cyntergy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our multi-discipline engineering team. This role focuses on supporting the design and development of HVAC and Plumbing building systems across a wide range of project types, including commercial, institutional, and government facilities.

The Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer works closely with licensed engineers, designers, and other disciplines to develop coordinated construction documents while building a strong technical foundation through mentorship and hands-on project experience. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer eager to learn, grow, and advance toward professional licensure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and layout of HVAC and plumbing systems under the direction of licensed engineers.
  • Perform engineering calculations, including heating and cooling loads, ventilation analysis, and equipment sizing.
  • Develop construction documents, including drawings, schedules, and details, using industry-standard software.
  • Assist with HVAC system design including air distribution, hydronic systems, and equipment selection.
  • Support plumbing system design including domestic water, sanitary, and storm systems.
  • Coordinate design efforts with architectural, structural, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and quality control processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support project planning, scope development, and schedule adherence.
  • Assist with construction administration activities, including responding to RFIs and reviewing submittals.
  • Learn and apply applicable codes, standards, and best practices related to mechanical building systems.
Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related field. 0-4 years of experience in mechanical engineering, HVAC design, plumbing design, or MEP consulting (internships and co-ops included). Fundamental understanding of HVAC and plumbing systems. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and Microsoft Excel; exposure to load calculation or energy analysis tools is a plus. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or intent to obtain.
  • Interest in pursuing Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Exposure to building codes and standards (IMC, ASHRAE, IPC, etc.).
  • Internship or co-op experience in an A/E or MEP consulting environment.
