Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are seeking a motivated individual to join our Engineering & Reliability team based out of our Gaston, SC facility. The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Integrity Inspector role, results driven, motivated by technical challenges and have excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills as well as demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills. The primary responsibility of this position is to plan, direct, evaluate, and document the safety and integrity of pressure vessels, tanks, and piping systems in accordance with regulatory and code requirements. The Mechanical Integrity Inspector is also responsible for monitoring new fabrication and repairs/alterations to pressure equipment.ResponsibilitiesThe Mechanical Integrity Inspector will be reportable to the Mechanical Integrity Manager and have responsibilities for the following tasks:Develops and executes inspection plans for pressure vessels, piping, and tanksProvides quality assurance for new construction and repairsInteracts with NDE TechniciansPerforms NDE in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures.Interprets inspection results in accordance with applicable codes, standards, specifications, or procedures and makes appropriate recommendationsPrepares inspection reports, makes technically-sound recommendations, and communicates findings to appropriate partiesDocuments results of non-destructive testing and examination activities.Visually examines materials, structures, or components for signs of corrosion, metal fatigue, cracks, or other flawsAbility to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications, P&IDs, and relevant industry standards (API, ASME, etc)Develop/review code compliant repair plans for equipment as needed.Assists in the training and development of others within the organizationParticipates in Root Cause Failure Analysis teamsProvides integral input to control/reduce life cycle costs of plant equipment by increasing mechanical reliabilitySome travel may be required (10% estimated, some overnight, domestic and international)Required SkillsRequired This will be a mid to senior level position, depending on previous experience levelHigh school/GED equivalent required.Strong safety backgroundBasic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.Level II certification and field experience in performing PT, VT, UT thickness inspections.Results oriented process driven team leader with exceptional organizational skillsAPI 510, 570, and 653 certifications a plusCertified weld inspector status (CWI) a plusMinimum of 3 years experience in performing API based inspections of piping, vessels or storage tanks desired.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to lift 25-pounds, unassistedBending, stretching, standing for extended periods of time, reaching, twisting, sitting, and walkingClimbing and working off of ladders, stairs, and scaffoldsMust be willing to work overtime and on weekends, if neededWorking in or near industrial hazardsAbility and desire to inspect vessel internals by means of confined space entryPreferredStrong work ethicExceptional safety and quality awarenessMechanical aptitudeAdaptable to changing schedulesExceptional attention to detailTeam workAbility to follow directions and procedures Alpek Polyester USA, LLC is a global leader in the production of PTA (Terephthalic Acid), PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Resins, PET Recycling (rPET), and Specialty Polymers.
