JOB DESCRIPTION

Mechanical Product Design Engineer Rochester Hills, MI -52/hr We are seeking a Product Design Engineer to support the development of new products and product improvements within the automotive service tools industry. This role involves mechanical product design, testing, manufacturing support, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams in a hands-on development environment. Responsibilities Design and develop new mechanical products and product enhancements Create detailed engineering documentation and release packages for manufacturing Test and validate products to ensure quality, reliability, and performance Support manufacturing and service teams with troubleshooting and product improvements Assist with manufacturing process development and continuous improvement initiatives Participate in value engineering efforts focused on cost reduction and product optimization Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and international partners Maintain accurate internal engineering and design records Support engineering computer systems and CAD-related activities as needed Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline Minimum 2 years of experience in a product design or mechanical design engineering environment Proficiency with CAD software; Autodesk Inventor experience preferred Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing methods Basic understanding of electronics and related technical disciplines Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting abilities Ability to work independently and within a collaborative engineering team Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills Hands-on automotive maintenance or repair experience preferred Experience with manufacturing processes, tooling, or production environments is a plus Project management or customer-facing experience is beneficial
