Job TitleMechanical Project Engineer III - Entry LevelJob DescriptionMechanical Project Engineer III - Hay level 30We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer III (entry level) that will support the North American Distribution Team.Vanderlandes Distribution Engineering Department is responsible for the design specification and commissioning of Material Handling Systems Warehouse Automation and Parcel Sortationsystems for our customersthroughout North America. You will be responsible for ensuring the design meets the customer requirements is coordinated with other trades to minimize conflicts during installation can be installed with efficiency and maintain excellent communication with the site team.Success in this role involves the ability to balance the technical requirements of the role while also having the soft skills to collaborate with the engineering team. It also involves working closely with stakeholders from other disciplines and other departments to balance priorities improve processes and satisfy a complex set of goals. Success will require strong technical skills creativity strong interpersonal skills drive and passion. A successful candidate will demonstrate a keen intuition for when to attempt to solve problems on their own and when to enlist the help of other experienced leaders.Key Responsibilities:Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:Translate customer drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical systemOptimize the functionality from as-sold to a working mechanical design within the budget in consultation with other disciplines (Electrical Controls Supply Chain Installation etc.)3D modeling of systems and subsequent clash detection managementAssociated 2Dcustomer approval and installation layout drawingsPerform spatial analysis of clearance envelopes egress pathways andforkliftvehicular aislesPerform system and component level calculations (Throughput motor power belt pull reactive forces to building structure etc)Engineering of project specials needed for non-standard design applicationsEngineering of non-standard mechanical interfacesApply safety regulations and ergonomicsSpecify the mechanical equipment required including both Vanderlande manufactured and third party purchased itemsCreate a motor manifest with respect to electrical and controls engineering requirementsDocument all engineering decisions through design planscomplete and clear installation files and engineering instructions directed to a site supervisor and installation subcontractorTravel to site as needed to conduct site surveysSupport the installation and commissioning both on site and from the Marietta officeProject document control using arights baseddatabase systemRequirements:This is an entry level positionBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technologywith 0-2 years ofrelative work experienceOr Associates ME/ET degree with 3-5 years relative work experienceMust be willing and able to travel domestically up to 50% with occasionalinternational opportunitiesAbility to think conceptually (overall system) and translate this into a detailed system designAbility to work in an entrepreneurial organization where cooperating with others and being a team member is naturalStrong communicator able to effectively understand and set expectations for deliverablesAble to handle time sensitive situations and quickly set the right priorities while maintaining a firm grasp of the detailsWillingness to learnProactiveAbility to work autonomously or in a teamAbility to work well with and motivate team membersAbility to quickly assess a situation and take appropriate actionStrong team mentality and willingness to accept responsibility for project completion (Ownership Culture)Must have the ability to properly prioritize work/activitiesPossess a strong ability to solve problems and research solutionsGood interpersonal verbal and written skillsDesired Skills/Qualifications:Ability to use AutoCAD 2D & 3DAbility to use AutoDesk Suite of tools (Revit Navisworks Vault BIM360 ACC etc)Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
