Its first stage is fully reusable and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.As part of a small passionate and accomplished team of experts you will support the design development and test of launch vehicle mechanical and decelerator systems. Your primary focus will be supporting re-entry and mechanical system design development that are critical to enabling safe reliable and cost-effective spaceflight. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight. This position is based full-time at our Kent facility to enable direct hands-on collaboration with hardware during development assembly testing and integration activities.Responsibilities:Participate in the entire design cycle of aero-decelerator and mechanical subsystems including conceptual and detailed design trade studies structural analysis development testing and qualification.Drive designs to cost targets to enable reduced cost of accessing space through innovative efficient solutions.Generate 3-D models component drawings assembly drawings and interface control documents with application of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.Create documentation for assembly and testing of development and flight hardware.Participate in subsystem level testing including planning execution data reduction and analysis.Develop component specifications and manage suppliers.Provide manufacturing and production support.Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.Minimum of 2 years of recent experience designing aerospace or equivalent type mechanical system elements within aircraft spacecraft or launch vehicles.Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools (PTC CREO Parametric preferred).Preferred Qualifications:Proficiency in performing hand calculations and applying first-principles physics to rapidly assess design feasibility and support engineering judgment.Experience in structural FEA using ANSYS NASTRAN or similar tools.Experience with MATLAB / Python and Artificial Intelligence tools.Experience with mechanism kinematic analysis tools.Experience in aerospace designs such as separation systems and/or deployable devices.Experience with re-entry decelerator systems and devices such as trailing parachutes inflatables etc.Compensation Range for:WA applicants is $96310.00-$134833.65Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDont meet all desired requirements Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification.
