Pomona is a member of The Claremont CollegesJob PurposeThe Media Services Technician operates maintains distributes and supports audio-visual systems across Pomona Colleges technology-enhanced classrooms meeting spaces and event venues. This role ensures seamless multimedia experiences and exceptional customer service while troubleshooting AV and computing issues.Essential FunctionsProvide technical support and troubleshooting for classroom and meeting space AV systemsSupport AV needs for major campus events (e.g. Alumni Weekend Family Weekend Convocation Board of Trustees meetings)Install software and firmware updates on classroom computers control systems and laptopsTrack and maintain inventory of media equipment and suppliesProvide technical support for web conferencing platformsAssist with digital signage systems (software displays computers)Log equipment updates relocations and inventory changesDocument procedures workflows and technical protocolsStay current with emerging AV technologies through training and conferencesComplete special projects and assignments as neededDeliver high-quality customer service to faculty staff students and guestsQualificationsEducation and ExperienceAssociates or bachelors degree in Communication Arts Educational Technology Computer Science or related field preferredMinimum of 2 years of hands-on experience supporting AV systems and media technologyProficiency with both Windows and macOS platforms including presentation and productivity softwareRequired Knowledge and SkillsTechnical ExpertiseAV systems: signal flow control systems (Crestron Extron) DSPs switchersAudio engineering: microphone types gain structure EQ feedback control live mixingProjector setup: focusing color correction keystone adjustmentsWeb conferencing: Zoom Microsoft Teamssetup integration troubleshootingDigital signage: content scheduling display calibration software configurationPreventive maintenance: cleaning firmware updates lifecycle trackingIT and Systems IntegrationOperating systems: Windows macOS iOS AndroidNetworking basics: IP addressing VLANs AV-over-IP protocolsSecurity awareness: data privacy secure AV setups IT policy complianceCommunication and CollaborationUser training and support for diverse audiencesTechnical documentation and SOP creationTeam coordination with IT Facilities and EventsEmpathetic responsive customer serviceStrategic and Operational AwarenessInventory management and vendor coordinationEvent logistics and AV planningProfessional development through trade shows and certifications (e.g. CTS)Mission alignment with Pomonas academic and community goalsCognitive and Physical CapabilitiesProblem-solving under pressureMultitasking in dynamic environmentsPhysical dexterity: climbing ladders lifting to 50 lbs. safely maneuvering equipmentWork ScheduleRegular hours: MondayFriday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PMFlexibility required for evenings weekends holidays and overtimeOccasional travel may be necessaryHOURLY RATE: The hourly rate for this role is between $24.50 and $27.27 per hour with a competitive benefits package.
