When needed the Medical Assistant Floater moves between departments and clinic sites to offer support.Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneEssential Duties/ResponsibilitiesClinical FunctionsResponsible for knowing the Medical Assistant scope of practicePrepare charts and obtain consentsCollects all gaps in care to ensure the best quality of care for patientsReceive patients take and record chief complaints and prepare patient for examination; record blood pressure pulse respirations pulse oximetry height and weightPrepare patients for examinations or procedures including positioning draping shavingand disinfecting treatment sitesExplain procedures to patients as requested by clinic personnelCollect specimens take EKGs and collect blood samples as requested by clinic personnelAssist the physician with examination treatments minor surgery dressing changes and splintingAssist the provider in the collection of specimens such as pap smears and throat culturesAdminister medications orally topically vaginally rectally subcutaneously intramuscularly and intradermallyPrepare and replenish supplies in the treatment room and exam roomsMaintain exam rooms in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patientsPerform simple laboratory procedures such as blood sugars and urine dipsSterilize instruments and maintain diagnostic and therapeutic equipment as well as a safe and clean environmentDispose of contaminated disposable and outdated items per protocolPerform necessary vision screening and operate the oximeter audiometer nebulizer and spirometer as directedDemonstrate willingness to assist co-workers whenever neededMaintain good working relationships with all clinic personnelReview patient record forms for accuracy and completionAttend all staff meetings and health fairsObserve DAP Health policies and proceduresProvide compassionate quality care to the patients of DAP Health within the scope of practice outlined by state or federal lawPerform other duties as needed.Floating FunctionsProvide support to various departments as neededFill in for medical assistants who are absent or on leaveAdapt to different clinical environments and workflowsEnsure continuity of care and support across departmentQualifications Required Skills/AbilitiesExcellent oral and written communication skillsEffective interpersonal skillsEffective communication with patients and coworkersAbility to work as a team memberBilingual in Spanish/English preferredEducation and ExperienceMedical assistant certificate or signed training on venipuncture infectious prevention patient privacy basic anatomy and physiology by Registered Nurse or PhysicianMinimum of 2-year work experience as a Medical Assistant preferredCurrent BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red CrossCertified Medical Assistant preferredWorking Conditions/Physical RequirementsThis job operates in an office as well as clinic settings and requires frequent times of sitting standing repetitive motion and talkingAbility to lift to 20 pounds and move from place to placeEnsures compliance with policies and procedures related to safe work practicesRequires current and valid drivers license and current personal auto insurance as well as reliable transportationInvolves extensive travel to DAP Health locations throughout San Diego and the Coachella ValleyAvailable for all shifts and when required able to work evenings and weekends Key Skills EMR Systems,Clinical Laboratory Experience,Athenahealth,Algebra,eClinicalWorks,Primary Care Experience,Phlebotomy,Medical office experience,Vital Signs Experience,Experience Administering Injections,Medical Terminology,Medication Administration Employment Type : Full-Time Department / Functional Area: Health Care Experience: years Vacancy: 1 Hourly Salary Salary: 21 - 25
