The Medical Assistant provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within a busy medical neurology oncology office setting. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:
- Vitals
- Allergy & medication reconciliation
- Screenings
- Patient history
- Health maintenance
- Advance directives
- Virtual health
Provides indirect patient care related to the Medical Assistant scope of education, including but, are not limited to the following:
- Scheduling
- Work queues / Worklists
- Check in/check out
- Referrals
- In-basket
- Chart prep
- Non-clinical patient result callbacks
- Prior authorizations
- Transportation facilitation
Conducts point of care testing including quality control & documentation including but, are not limited to the following:
- EKG
- Hemoglobin A1C
- Urinalysis
- Hemoglobin POCT
- Urine toxicity
- INR
- hCG
Qualifications
Education:
Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic Certification OR relative experience
Experience:
In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered.
