Accountable for welcoming and preparing the patient for their appointment the Medical Assistant informs patients of relevant and required information for their visit and provides clear communication around the services they are scheduled to receive.How You Will Get Things Done:Perform point-of-care laboratory tests EKGs as ordered or indicated suture/staple removal dressing changes and other patient care activitiesCollect and document vital signs histories and screeningsAuthorize prescription refills as directedSchedule patient appointments/follow-up appointments following established policies and proceduresObtain copies of insurance cards drivers licenses authorizations referrals and other required appointment documentation and appropriately save them in practice EMRPerform demographic and insurance validation and inform patients of privacy policies and proceduresKeep the reception and patient waiting areas clean and organizedOther duties as assignedHow You Will Build Trust:Demonstrate kindness and compassion in all patient interactionsEffectively communicate unexpected schedule delays to patients and assists with patient comfort should delays ariseParticipate in brand marketing rotating throughout the vestibule with a focus on engaging and increasing patient volumeHow You Will Innovate:Prepare and administer PO IM and ID medications as directed by the Physician or Advanced Practice Provider utilizing the Rights of Vaccine or Medication AdministrationProvide instruction to the patient regarding medications and dietExperience to Drive Change:Certified Medical Assistant or eligible within 90 days of hire1 year of experience preferredPhlebotomy experience requiredCurrent BLS certification for healthcare providers preferred; required within 90 days of employmentHigh School Diploma/Equivalency requiredExperience in primary care family practice internal medicine urgent care or ER preferredAbout Our CommitmentTotal Rewards at VillageMDOur team members are essential to our mission to reshape healthcare through the power of connection.
