Medical Director

Location: Middletown, New York

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (Flexible)


About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Medical Director to lead medical services within a New York State OASAS-certified inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation program. This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee clinical operations, guide multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care for individuals recovering from substance use disorders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all medical treatment, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate with psychiatric providers to ensure effective medication management.
  • Monitor and prescribe Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when appropriate.
  • Review laboratory findings and address patient medical concerns.
  • Develop and maintain medical policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with OASAS regulations and health department standards.
  • Participate in case conferences and provide clinical guidance to treatment teams.
  • Supervise and mentor Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants.
  • Build referral relationships with community partners and healthcare organizations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and program development.


Qualifications

  • MD or DO with an active New York State medical license.
  • DEA certification and current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with substance use disorder populations.
  • Prior medical leadership or administrative experience.
  • Board Certified or pursuing Board Certification in Addiction Medicine preferred.
  • Knowledge of OASAS regulations and addiction treatment best practices is highly desirable.
