Job DescriptionEmergency Medical DirectorOpportunity at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital – Laurel, MDPosition Summary:The ERMedical Director at Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital plays a pivotal leadership rolewithin the Emergency Department, responsible for upholding the higheststandards of patient care, supporting clinical team development, andcontributing to operational efficiency and medical excellence. With a compassionate and dedicated team of ER doctors andgeneral practitioners, we provide exceptional care around the clock (24/7/365).We are committed to providing the best veterinary care available to animals inDC, Maryland and Virginia.KeyResponsibilities:Clinical Leadership & MedicalOversight:Maintain andenforce the gold-standard of patient care, clinical protocols, and clientservice.Activelyreview ER doctor SOAP notes, surgical techniques, diagnostic decisions,treatment plans, and client communication to ensure quality and consistency.Provideconstructive feedback and coaching to support ongoing professional developmentof ER doctors.Departmental Collaboration:Attendbiweekly ER department manager meetings and contribute to strategicdiscussions.Collaboratewith the ER Director and leadership team to implement new protocols anddepartment initiatives.Medical Advancement & ProtocolDevelopment:Researchcurrent best practices and emerging trends in veterinary emergency medicine.Presentclinical updates and recommendations to the General Manager and ManagingVeterinarian; upon alignment, coordinate with the ER Director to implementupdates into practice.Assist inthe development, review, and deployment of medical protocols that improve ERflow and treatment outcomes.Mentorship & Team Development:Support theonboarding and mentorship of new ER doctors, providing guidance and feedbackwith direction from General Manager, Managing Veterinarian, and Joint VenturePartners.Offer inputand support in conducting annual performance evaluations for ER doctors.Client Communication & SupportAssist inresolving client concerns and complaints related to medical care, incollaboration with General Manager and Managing Veterinarian as needed.Scheduling & Administrative Duties:Coordinateand manage the ER DVM holiday schedule to ensure adequate and fair coverage.Qualifications:Activeveterinary license in good standingMinimum of 5years of clinical experience in emergency veterinary medicinePriorleadership or management experience preferredStrongcommunication, mentorship, and organizational skillsCommitmentto continuing education and evidence-based medicineCompensation: Base salary of $200,000- $250,000 Production-based bonuses Generous sign on bonus Benefits: Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, and liability insurance Generous CE allowance 401k with match Flexible, predictable, consistent scheduleApply Today!If you’relooking for an opportunity where you can provide excellent care in asupportive, team-oriented environment, Rocky Gorge Animal Hospital is the placefor you.
