Overview: Sign-on Bonus Available Responsibilities: RESPONSIBLE FOR:Performs testing which requires limited skilland responsibility and a minimal exercise of independent judgmentfor which the technician has demonstrated competency. Undersupervision as defined by CMS, performs general tests on patientsof all ages which regularly require a professional level ofknowledge to execute, interpret, and/or analyze in an accurate andtimely manner. Qualifications: MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:High School diploma orequivalent required plus a sufficient number of college and/ortechnical school courses and clinical training to satisfy therequirements for testing and certification as a medical laboratorytechnician by an approved certifyingagency.MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:None required beyondeducation/training requirement.MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BYLAW:Certification as a medical laboratorytechnician or clinical laboratory technician by the AmericanSociety of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American MedicalTechnologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts)according to the qualifications through the State of GeorgiaDepartment of Community Health, Healthcare Facility, ClinicalLaboratory regulations. A person who recently moved into the stateof Georgia or recently completed the academic andtraining/experience requirements may be temporarily classified astechnologists or technicians for eighteen (18) months only toafford the person an opportunity to successfully complete anapproved qualifying examination. AAB provisional certification notaccepted.ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:Associates degree in clinicallaboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or in alife / biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology,etc.) preferred. One year of supervised clinical experience as amedical laboratory technician in a clinical laboratory preferred.Should be competent in areas of the laboratory being covered,including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, blood bank,microbiology preferred.
