Medical Laboratory Scientist / Medical Technologist – Blood Bank (3rd Shift)

Shift: 3rd Shift | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday

Pay Rate: $30–$36 per hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) / Medical Technologist (MT) / Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join our Blood Bank team. In this role, you will perform routine and complex laboratory testing to ensure accurate and timely results that support high-quality patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate specimens for acceptability according to established guidelines.
  2. Perform routine and complex laboratory testing following departmental SOPs.
  3. Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
  4. Make sound technical decisions and resolve testing-related issues.
  5. Prepare, test, and validate reagents and quality control materials.
  6. Report accurate and timely laboratory results.
  7. Perform and document quality control and preventive maintenance procedures.
  8. Maintain adequate bench supplies and assist with specimen processing as needed.
  9. Ensure compliance with safety standards and use appropriate PPE at all times.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field (meeting CLIA and state requirements).
  • 0–2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers; experience with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.
  • Must pass a standardized color vision screening.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as needed.

Certifications

  • ASCP or AMT certification – Required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Blood Bank experience preferred.
  • State Medical Technologist license (if required by state regulations).
