JOB DESCRIPTION

Pride Health is hiring a “Medical Laboratory Scientist - Traveler” to support our client’s medical facility-based “Farmington Hills MI 48336”. This is a 6-7-months assignment (Possibility of extension or conversion) opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!


Position Name: Medical Laboratory Scientist - Traveler

Location: Farmington Hills MI 48336

Weekly Pay: $2200-2400/week

Duration: 6-7 months contract with possible extension

Shift: M-F, weekends and holidays rotation, Evening- 10:30 PM -7:00 AM


ASCP or equivalent certification required


Job Responsibilities

  • Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analysis, reporting, and maintenance of patient test records.
  • Maintain documentation demonstrating proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures and department SOPs.
  • Review, verify, and release test results.
  • Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, CAP, and laboratory safety guidelines.
  • Follow quality control policies and document QC activities, calibrations, maintenance, and corrective actions.
  • Identify and resolve testing issues that may affect test performance or result reporting; notify senior technologist or supervisor as needed.
  • Document corrective actions when test systems fall outside established performance specifications.
  • Report STAT and critical results according to departmental procedures.
  • Answer questions from clients, customers, and laboratory personnel when applicable.
  • Maintain complete and accurate testing records.
  • Ensure department cleanliness and organization.
  • Verify reagents and test kits are properly labeled with received, opened, and expiration dates.
  • Review and train on new laboratory procedures.
  • Attend departmental meetings, educational sessions, and required training programs.
  • Participate in safety training and maintain knowledge of safety manuals and equipment.
  • Assist with government and regulatory inspections when required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of basic laboratory testing principles.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA).
  • Experience working across multiple laboratory disciplines.
  • Proficiency with laboratory computer systems and ability to adapt to multiple software platforms.

Education

  • BS in Medical Technology preferred; OR
  • BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; OR
  • Associate Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; OR
  • Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (published March 14, 1990).

Credential Requirements:

  • Foreign-educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation).
  • U.S.-educated candidates must provide an official detailed transcript.
  • Must possess or be eligible for MT/MLT certification through ASCP or AMT.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
  • Candidates with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology must have at least 1 year of high-complexity clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • National and State licensure required, where applicable.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple procedures simultaneously.

  • Excellent customer service and client communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Generalist laboratory experience required, including:
  • Chemistry
  • Hematology
  • Blood Bank
