Therapeutic Medical Physicist – South Texas VA Health Care System (San Antonio, TX)
Full-Time or Part-Time (Job Share) | Onsite | Support Our Veterans
Kelly Government Solutions, in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, is seeking two highly experienced Therapeutic Medical Physicists to join the South Texas VA Health Care System’s Radiation Oncology Department in San Antonio, TX. Schedule Options:
- Full-time (8x5 or 10x4 schedule available)
- Part-time/job share (20–40 hours/week, flexible)
- Onsite role with some travel required
Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of clinical radiation therapy physics and provide support services in Radiation Oncology.
- Manage and oversee quality control programs for radiation therapy equipment.
- Coordinate calibration, equipment evaluation, and maintenance for treatment, dosimetry, and imaging devices.
- Apply expertise in brachytherapy (LDR and HDR) and support Eclipse, Oncentra, Variseed, RadCalc, and Mapcheck planning and QA.
- Develop, implement, and verify treatment plans in coordination with physicians and the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate as an Authorized Radiation Safety Officer and serve on the Radiation Safety Committee.
- Deliver in-service education and lead new technology/procedure rollouts as needed.
- Oversee dosimetry processes and ensure accurate data entry in treatment planning systems.
- Remain current with continuing education, professional society participation, and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctorate (Ph.D. or Sc.D.) in Therapeutic Radiological Physics, Therapeutic Medical Physics, or equivalent from a CAMPEP-accredited university.
- Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or the American College of Medical Physics (ACMP) in Therapeutic Medical Physics/Radiological Physics.
- Active, unrestricted license to practice medical physics in Texas.
- Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC only; web-based classes not accepted).
- Ten (10) years of recent clinical medical physics experience, with at least 12 months of active practice in the last 18 months.
- Meets U.S. NRC 10 CFR 35 requirements for Authorized Medical Physicist, with experience in both LDR and HDR brachytherapy.
- Proficient in all aspects of clinical radiation therapy physics technology, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
- U.S. citizenship or authorization to work in the U.S.
