Metallurgical and Failure Analysis Department ManagerJob LocationsUS-WI-New BerlinID2025-17805OverviewElement has an opportunity for a Metallurgical and Failure Analysis Department Manager whose primary responsibility is to Lead and Manage Metallurgical Department running day to day operations. Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 DOE ResponsibilitiesEnsure work compliance to ISO 17025 requirementsPerform metallurgical failure analysis on failed metallic (ferrous and non-ferrous) components, generating failure investigation reports with technical findingsCarry out the mechanical tests for material properties evaluation and weld procedure specification qualification as per various international standards (ASME, API, AWS and BS)Previous direct Management Responsibilities are requiredPrevious Engineering Team Management is encouraged The tests include:Tensile testImpact testNick-Break testBend TestMacro examinationCTOD and others Carry out the corrosion tests as per NACE standards and other project specification to determine the susceptibility of material to corrosion in various service conditionsPerform metallographic examinations on various materials to be determine grain size, cleanliness, volume percentage of phases and general microstructure evaluationCoordinate with the clients & third party witness as to the testing detailsManage technicians to carry out work as per the planning scheduleBe willing to assist in other activities from time to time that may be requested by the department manager to assist in the execution Element Technology annual targets and budgetSkills / QualificationsBachelor degree in Metallurgy or related disciplineMinumum 7 years experience working in a laboratory in the field of metallurgy testingMinimum 5 years experience required in mechanical tests and failure analysisExcellent technical report writing skillsGood maths skillsKnowledge and experience of safe operation of metallurgical testing equipment and operating in lab and / or industrial environmentExcellent organisational and team leading skillsExceptional communication skillsPrevious direct Management Responsibilities are requiredPrevious Engineering Team Management is encouragedCompany OverviewElement is one of the fastest growing testing, inspection and certification businesses in the world.
