Mid PostgreSQL Database Administrator at Peraton

ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking a highly capable proactive experienced PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) to help build our database infrastructure.Location: On-site Washington DCIn this position you will:Participate in the migration of legacy SQL data to new PostgreSQL databasesApply expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning and data migrationWork hands-on with AWS to manage and optimize environmentsBeyond core DBA responsibilities this role includes system administration tasks such as managing AWS environments scripting and supporting infrastructure operations. This hybrid role requires a strong understanding of both data and systems to ensure reliability scalability and security across our platforms.Key Responsibilities:Administer maintain and optimize PostgreSQL databases.Monitor performance tune queries and manage indexes/statistics.Implement and manage backup recovery and high availability strategies.Perform system administration tasks including patching scripting and server configuration.Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to support application deployments.Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in production and non-production environments.Document procedures configurations and best practices.Migrate legacy data from Microsoft SQL Server to PostgreSQL.QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelors degree and minimum of 5 years experience in the following:Database AdministrationImplementing data policies procedures standardsPlanning and development of an organizations enterprise data modelResolving data conflictsManaging data repositoriesU.S. citizenship required.A current Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain a polygraph.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with PostgreSQL.Experience with AWS.Knowledge of EAV data model.Peraton OverviewPeraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position the individuals experience education knowledge skills and competencies as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
