Job DescriptionJob DescriptionECOLE BILINGUE DE LA NOUVELLE-ORLÉANS, founded in 1998, provides a private, friendly and language-enriched environment for every student. We are Louisiana’s first and only private French school accredited by the French government and the State of Louisiana providing multilingual education for 18-month-old students through the 8th grade. Since the formation of our elementary school, it has been the mission of Ecole Bilingue to provide a strong and distinctive bilingual education for children in New Orleans by combining the best of French and American academics.Ecole Bilingue seeks a qualified, full time English Language Arts / Social Studies teacher for its English language track in Middle School. The Middle School Teacher will be the lead teacher for English Language Arts and Social Studies, and will work alongside the French lead teacher of the same grade to build and implement an innovative and creative curriculum.Qualifications:This position requires a Bachelor or Master Degree, preferably in English, education or its equivalent in a related degree and at least three years of full-time teaching experience as a lead teacher, preferably (but not required) in a language immersion setting.The successful applicant willdemonstrate strong instructional and classroom management skillspossess successful classroom experience in middle school setting, upper school or 4th/5th gradefoster a cooperative and respectful partnership with familiesbe computer literate and knowledgeable about the latest and most effective uses of technology in the classroombe successful in working with teamsbe willing to build co-teaching units with French teachersbe willing to contribute to school activities outside of the assigned classroompossess strong understanding of the developmental level of the students he or she teachesgenuinely love to work with children and educators at the elementary / middle school levelWhile French is not a requirement for the position, knowledge of French is a plus and an appreciation for the acquisition of World Languages and global experiences a must.Responsibilities:plan and execute lessons that meet the differentiated needs of our students including whole group, small group and individual instruction and that fulfill the skills and content of the grade levelfacilitate the educational and social development of the studentscreate a nurturing and respectful learning environment that is safe and conducive to learningfacilitate parent-teacher conferences three times a year, providing written materials as requiredparticipate in school fundraisersmaintain student records and an organized environment for learningcomplete school duties as assignedApplicants should submit the following:A cover letter indicating experience, interest in the position, and educational philosophyA current resume or CVThe names, addresses, and telephone numbers of three references.Job Type: Full-time
