Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced MIG/TIG Welder and Fabricator. This position involves reading blueprints, setting up equipment (MIG/TIG welders), joining steel & stainless precisely using different techniques, inspecting welds for quality (AWS standards) and maintaining a clean/safe workspace. This position also requires fabrication, collaborating with others, strong dexterity, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols. This position is based in Porterville, California.
Key Responsibilities
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols to plan the job.
- Material Preparation: Experienced using a Pipe Band Saw, Metal Shearing Machine & Hydraulic Press to prepare materials for fabrication.
- Surface Preparation: Clean, grind, and prepare metal surfaces for welding.
- Equipment Setup: Configure and operate MIG/TIG welding machines, torches, and other tools.
- Metal Fabrication: Tack, Weld and assemble metal parts from steel and stainless steel.
- Quality Control: Inspect welds for structural soundness, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards (like AWS).
- Safety & Maintenance: Adhere to safety protocols. Maintain a clean work area and perform basic equipment upkeep.
- Collaboration: Work with supervisors and team members to meet project deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience with MIG & TIG welding processes for 5 years with no gaps.
- Must be a true hands-on fabricator (no fixtures or pre-cut).
- Speed, accuracy and consistency in set up & production.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and focus.
- Knowledge of different metal types and welding symbols.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Requires a high school diploma and formal welding training
- Recent work history in the welding field.
- Must be punctual, dependable and reliable.
- Must be highly adaptable and a quick learner.
- Requires a strong work ethic.
