The Seed Mill Associate is responsible for all activities involved in the Seed Cleaning process. This person works closely with both the Mill Manager and the Farm Manager to plan and organize the production workflow of seed cleaning and packaging of seed.
Responsibilities
Help receive and document un-cleaned seed inventory
Maintain records of each seed lot
Help set-up of machines for cleaning each crop & monitor quality of cleaned seed
Help maintain records of machinery setups for each species of seed
Monitor to assure seed samples are properly pulled for laboratory tests, and properly labelled and stored
Coordinate the re-clean seed as required
Help set up new equipment & modify and/or adapt to meet seed cleaning needs
Implement and maintain procedures to ensure a safe work environment
Implement and maintain procedures to ensure clean, safe, and efficient seed storage
Other farm and warehouse duties as required through the season.
Experience / Education and Skills Required
Communication and attention to detail: relate clearly and well with office and other workers.
Able to operate a forklift and skidsteer, or demonstrate an ability to learn.
Able to lift 50 lb to head height, and in good physical condition.
Organization and safety consciousness, and maintain a clean work environment.
Legible writing.
Basic math: to check orders, calculate loads, calculate weights, etc.
Maintain good morale and promote teamwork in the cleaning department.
Compensation details: 18-20 Hourly Wage
