Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Title: Millwright Journeyman I Compensation: Full-time. In addition to a 401k retirement plan to which the company makes matching contributions, ARG offers participation in an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) to qualified employees, through which they share in the profits of the company.Scope & Responsibilities of Millwright Journeyman I: (Not limited to)Maintain various types of rotating equipment, which includes pumps, steam turbines, gear boxes, fans, blowers, mixers, and compressors. Perform hands on maintenance, troubleshooting, assessment, repairs, and documentation on the rotating equipment. Ensure proper installation of equipment to design and standards. Perform hands-on shop and field disassembly, inspection, reporting, cleaning, and reassembly of rotating equipment.Help ensure work and materials used are in compliance with manufacturer specifications.Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair, and reassembly as required. Complete applicable quality documentation and feedback sheets either in electronic or paper form.Perform day-to-day and routine safety observations and inspections.Aligning equipment to industry standards with laser alignment equipment.Obtain vibration data on a monthly or on a more frequent basis.Entering and retrieving data from our machinery maintenance system, FT Maintenance.Participate in Root Cause Analysis cross functional teams to provide insight and ideas.Participate in reviewing spare parts and spare equipment strategy for new and existing equipment. Demonstrate ability to work independently. (2 year certificate program) 3-6 years working with rotating equipment in a refinery or chemical plant. Other Qualifications of Millwright Journeyman I:Ability to read technical procedures and drawings.Able to work independently performing basic rotating equipment service or maintenance.Ability to take accurate measurements, complete documentation, and understand manufacturer manuals.Effective people skills with demonstrated ability to work in teams.Proficient computer skills in Microsoft office and maintenance management system.Understanding of basic machinery vibration analysis and balancing. Ability to perform general machining using lathes, mills, drills, etc., preferred.Experience with installation, maintenance and repair of steam turbines and gas compressors beneficial.Ability to use problem solving/critical thinking skillsWilling to be certified in Level I vibration analysisThe position requires a valid driver’s license. Mechanical Aptitude Selects appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. Well-versed in operating hand and power tools or any other equipment needed to facilitate job function.Knowledgeable in proper bolt torquing techniques. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematics and measurement devices such as micrometers & Vernier calipers. Can apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining. Able to perform general machining techniques using lathes, mills, drills, shapers, or grinders. Can fabricate &/or modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines. Equipment & MachineryResponsible for upkeep of various types of rotating equipment which includes but is not limited to pumps, steam turbines, gear boxes, fans, blowers, mixers, and compressors.Setup, adjust and operate a variety of basic machining tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools, to produce precision parts, instruments, and machining operations. Safely uses all shop equipment such as cutting torches or hydraulic presses and any heavy equipment including mobile crane, man-lifts, forklifts, or others necessary to perform the job. Uses computerized machining media to set controls, enter commands and retrieve inputs or edits. Ensure work and materials are used in compliance with manufacturer specifications and design standards.Align equipment to industry standards with laser alignment equipment. Review & monitor spare part inventory, spare equipment strategy and spare part picklists to ensure adequate supply. Installation & RepairInstall, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair rotating equipment &/or other ancillary equipment.Perform hands-on shop and field disassembly, inspection, reporting, cleaning, and reassembly of rotating equipment. Adjust packing, as well as install and inspect various types of mechanical seals. Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines; positions or fastens work pieces. Monitors the feed and speed of machines during machining process. This position may also perform: routine maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on fork trucksreplace defective parts and ensures fork trucks operate efficiently and safely Use diagnostic tools and software to assess fork truck systems and pinpoint malfunctions. Interpret diagnostic does and readings to identify mechanical and electrical failures. Troubleshooting & Problem-solvingDemonstrates knowledge of normal equipment operation and can detect deviations or exceptions. Determines cause of operating errors; resolves routine questions and problems and escalates core complex issues to appropriate leadership. Measures, examines and tests completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance using applicable tools or resources. Obtain and review vibration data monthly or more frequently as appropriate.Preventative & Predictive MaintenancePerform day-to-day and routine safety observations and inspections. Conduct frequent inspection of various types of mechanical seals. Verify proper installation and functionality to ensure equipment longevity.Enter &/or retrieve data regarding machinery maintenance from related software or systems such as FT Maintenance.This position may also: Develop and execute a preventive maintenance schedule for fork trucks and other material handling equipmentLubricate parts, change fluids, and ensure all safety features are in optimal working condition. Maintain accurate records of maintenance repairs, including parts used and services provided. Manage inventory of commonly used parts for replacement and/or quick repairs. Physical & Cognitive Demands of Millwright Journeyman I:COGNITIVE DEMANDS: includes the ability to meet deadlines, focus attention, work independently or within a team, perform repetitive tasks, assess spatial relations, communicate effectively, read, and comprehend, interpret information, organize, think critically, and troubleshoot. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: seeing, speaking, hearing, smelling, kneeling, stooping, sitting, walk/climb/crawl, stand/reach, listen, writing, physical coordination, driving, climbing, twisting/bending, depth perception, assembling parts, keyboarding, push/pull/lift/carry or otherwise transport 50 pounds.Demonstrate physical ability and skill to climb, enter vessels through man ways and work in elevated locations or confined spaces.Work in various indoor and outdoor environments in extreme heat or cold with exposure to hazardous materials.Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and moderate noise levels.Able to wear Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) and use all types of respiratory equipment including self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).May be required to work overtime, holidays, weekends, scheduled time off and/or shift work as required to support plant operations. Position is subject to callout; must be available to report for duty as needed.
